Superdelegate pressure on Hillary

Sun, 25 May 2008 04:49:25 PDT
President Carter says that he hasn't spoken about this in public. But here he is, speaking about it in public in London a few hours ago. In an interview with Sky News, Carter said he did not think Clinton was achieving anything by staying in the fight. "I think not. But of course she has the perfect right to do so," he said while attending a literary festival in Britain. "I'm a superdelegate ... I think a lot of the superdelegates will make a decision quite, announced quite rapidly, after th

Business Benefits from War -- Do You?

Whenever business leaders profit through war … we lay another solid stone toward prolonging violence. The opposite is true when people prefer peace and create doable tactics. Look at war and peace trends since last year’s Veteran’s Day.

Carter: After June 3 "It Will Be Time For Her to Give It Up"

Sun, 25 May 2008 05:15:38 PDT
In an interview with Sky News in London, former President Jimmy Carter said that after the final primaries on June 3 in South Dakota and Montana, he expects the remaining 210 or so uncommitted superdelegates will announce who they're backing in the Democratic contest, after which Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, will have to exit the race. "I'm a superdelegate," Carter said. "I think a lot of the superdelegates will make a decision quite, announced quite rapidly, after the final primary on June 3..

The emerging BIG switch

Sat, 24 May 2008 21:36:31 PDT
I was reading an article in DM Review, on the emerging applications of business intelligence tools and the transformation expected in the future as 'information inventory' in enterprises gather pace over the next decade. While there are interesting trends on how BI applications will grow( which I have put together as a presentation), I would likely to slightly digress a bit and pick-out some thought-provoking points that has been made in the article: I found a particularly interesting point t

The end of futurists (and ugliness)

Sun, 25 May 2008 03:03:33 PDT
I love this (only partially) tongue in cheek visualisation of the extinction timeline of a number of things we take for granted. Whether it is innocence (2001), retirement (2017) or ugliness (c.2060) Richard Watson can see it coming to an end some day. In fact he even predicts the end of futurists in c.2050 (at about the same time he thinks that we might finally wave good bye to Cher). Nb. The footnote reads "not to be taken too seriously" Found on Furl.com

Media Alert

Tue, 20 May 2008 06:04:46 PDT
On Friday I posted that I was going to appear on the CBC Newsworld program Politics to talk about election gag laws. Unfortunately, I got bumped at the last minute. The good news, however, is that I have been rescheduled to appear on the show today at approximately 5:10 PM EST. So I will definitely be on today --- unless I'm bumped.

Public: Don't Mess With My Flight Plans

Sun, 13 Aug 2006 11:58:25 PDT
"Pretty soon we'll have to fly naked!" The mass media rapidly embraced the UK terror storyline fed to them. The BBC, CNN, CBC Newsworld and other all-news broadcasters covered scarcely anything but the narrowly averted catastrophe throughout the day. Funny thing, but the general public wasn't buying it. The reaction was surprisingly cynical...
